Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and simplify cleanup.
Place the melted and slightly cooled unsalted butter in a large mixing bowl. Canola oil may be used in place of the butter if preferred.
Add the milk, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour into the liquid mixture, stirring continuously as it is added.
Continue adding flour only until a soft dough develops. Avoid adding the entire quantity at once, as a small amount may remain unused. The finished dough should remain tender rather than becoming dry or stiff.
Separate the prepared dough into 7 equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball with your hands.
Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving approximately 2 inches of space between them to allow room for expansion during baking.
For a glossy surface, the tops may be brushed with egg wash before baking. Alternatively, leave them uncoated for a more rustic golden appearance and apply melted butter after baking.
Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake the rolls for approximately 25 minutes, or until the tops develop a golden-brown color.
Remove the rolls from the oven. If desired, lightly brush the warm tops with additional melted butter to create a softer, more flavorful finish.
