½
teaspoon
ground cinnamon
preferably freshly ground for a more pronounced aroma
2
tablespoons
salted butter
cut into small slices
2
large apples
such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith
1
tablespoon
packed light brown sugar
Instructions
Slice or dice the apples according to your preferred size and shape.
Arrange the cut apples in an even layer inside a microwave-safe bowl to encourage uniform cooking.
Scatter the light brown sugar and ground cinnamon over the apples.
Gently stir until the fruit is evenly covered with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Distribute the sliced salted butter across the top of the seasoned apples.
Microwave for approximately 3–4 minutes, or until the apples are tender and can be pierced easily with a fork.

Notes
Allow the cooked apples to rest for 1 minute before serving. This brief standing period helps the warm, syrupy juices thicken slightly.
