Ingredients

  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 6 boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 3 green onions sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • Kosher salt to taste

Instructions

  • Arrange the chicken thighs evenly at the bottom of the Crock-Pot™ 4.5 Quart Slow Cooker.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, melted butter, and minced garlic. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker. Use tongs or a spatula to gently turn the chicken, ensuring each piece is coated fully.
  • Cover the slow cooker and set it to LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours. Cook until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  • Prepare a cornstarch slurry by whisking together the cornstarch and 3 tablespoons of water in a small bowl. Add the slurry to the slow cooker and mix gently into the sauce.
  • Continue cooking for an additional 15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken to a glossy consistency.
  • Once finished, shred the chicken using two forks directly in the Crock-Pot™. Adjust the seasoning with kosher salt to taste.
  • Garnish the finished dish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve warm over rice or with a side of steamed broccoli, as desired.

Notes

You may modify the quantity of honey based on personal sweetness preference. For advance preparation, the chicken can marinate in the sauce up to two days in the refrigerator before cooking. Alternatively, fully cook the dish in advance, cool it, and store it in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat gently in the microwave or oven before serving.
