Ingredients

  • 1 lb imitation crab meat or an equal amount of real crab for a richer taste
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ large onion finely diced
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese freshly shredded for smoother melting
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • Additional shredded cheese for the topping optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F, allowing it to reach the proper temperature before the casserole is placed inside.
  • Add the crab meat, finely diced onion, mayonnaise, sour cream, softened cream cheese, shredded Swiss cheese, garlic powder, and dried parsley to a large mixing bowl. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated and the mixture becomes creamy and cohesive.
  • Transfer the prepared crab mixture to a casserole dish. Use a spatula to distribute it evenly and smooth the surface into a uniform layer.
  • For an additional cheesy topping, scatter extra shredded cheese over the surface of the casserole. This layer is optional.
  • Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the casserole is hot and bubbling.
  • Remove the baked crab casserole from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Freshly shredding the Swiss cheese can promote smoother, more even melting. Real crab may be substituted for imitation crab when a richer crab flavor is preferred. The additional cheese topping is entirely optional.
