Ingredients

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 1/3 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract preferably Madagascar vanilla for a fuller flavor
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature

French Toast

  • 12 slices thick-cut Texas toast
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar

Optional Toppings

  • Pure maple syrup for serving
  • Fresh strawberries sliced for garnish
  • Whipped cream preferably homemade

Instructions

  • Place the softened cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Beat until the mixture is completely smooth and easy to spread.
  • Coat one side of six Texas toast slices with a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture. Place the remaining bread slices over the filling to create six sandwiches.
  • Press each sandwich together gently so the bread adheres to the filling.
  • In a small bowl, whisk the eggs with the milk, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon until thoroughly blended.
  • Dip each assembled sandwich into the egg mixture, turning it so both sides are evenly coated.
  • Lift the sandwich from the mixture and allow any excess liquid to drip away before cooking.
  • Warm a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a generous amount of butter across the cooking surface.
  • Once the butter has melted and begins to sizzle, arrange the coated sandwiches on the hot skillet or griddle.
  • Cook until the first side develops a golden-brown exterior, then carefully turn each sandwich and continue cooking until the opposite side is equally golden.
  • Transfer the cooked stuffed French toast to serving plates.
  • Finish with sliced fresh strawberries, maple syrup, and a spoonful of whipped cream, if desired. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Thick-cut Texas toast is essential for supporting the cream cheese filling and egg coating. Allowing the cream cheese to soften fully before mixing helps produce a smooth filling. Madagascar vanilla, pure maple syrup, and homemade whipped cream may be used for a richer flavor.
