Ingredients

  • 2 medium red apples cored and sliced in half
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup divided
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon preferably freshly ground for fuller flavor
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil melted

Instructions

  • Remove the cores, seeds, and firm woody centers from the apples, then cut each apple into halves. Gently blot the surfaces dry with a paper towel to encourage even cooking and improved caramelization.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray to help prevent the apples from sticking.
  • Whisk the melted coconut oil with 1 tablespoon of the maple syrup and the ground cinnamon until the mixture is evenly blended.
  • Place the prepared apple halves in the mixture and toss thoroughly, ensuring both the cut surfaces and skins receive an even coating.
  • Position the coated apple halves in the preheated air fryer basket with their cut sides facing upward.
  • Air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 10–14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking period to promote consistent browning.
  • Begin checking the apples at approximately 10 minutes. They are ready when the flesh has become very tender and the outer edges show light caramelization. Cooking time may vary slightly according to apple size.
  • Transfer the hot air-fried apples to a serving bowl. While they are still warm, drizzle them with the remaining 1 tablespoon maple syrup.
  • Allow the syrup to mingle with the warm apple juices, forming a light, glossy coating. Serve immediately for optimal texture and flavor.
