Ingredients

  • 2 pounds round steak cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 broccoli crown cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional

Instructions

  • Arrange the steak pieces in the slow cooker. In a separate bowl, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, minced garlic, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Mix well and pour this blend over the steak.
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 3 hours until the beef is thoroughly tender.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Stir this mixture into the slow cooker.
  • Add the broccoli to the slow cooker and continue to cook on low for an additional 30 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the broccoli is tender.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired, and serve hot over rice.
